Wecome to the SleepHealth Study App Community

Welcome to the SleepHealth Mobile App Study!  This is a research study to investigate how your sleep is associated with your general health, other medical conditions, daytime alertness and productivity.
This app is part of an exciting new patient-led effort to use the iPhone and Apple Watch to advance clinical research on sleep and sleep disorders and how they affect other medical conditions.  It is also a personalized tool that helps you gain greater insight into your sleep habits and sleep disorders, learn how sleep is associated with other medical conditions you may have, and take charge of your health.

The SleepHealth team consists of the American Sleep Apnea Association, a patient-led non-profit organization, and researchers at the University of California, San Diego.

This study is unique in that it is led by patients and allows participants to be equal partners in both the monitoring of their symptoms and management of their symptoms as well as laying the foundation to direct the research process itself in the future.

This app is designed for research and educational purposes only.  You should not rely on this information as a substitute for personal medical attention, diagnosis or hands-on treatment.  If you are concerned about your health, please consult your health provider immediately.  Do not wait for a response from our research team.

This study will ask you to respond to surveys and perform tasks such as upload data from personal devices if you wish. The more information you provide, the more information and insight you will get back and the more you will help research to find new treatments and cures.

Enjoy the app and join us at www.sleeptember.org and get support and share you opinions on how to improve the study, reach others and advance research.

  1. How do we report app issues? For example, the app crashes every time I try to put in my partner's information.

  2. Should I wear Apple Watch when I sleep? If so, should I download a sleep app? Bc I thought Apple Watch needs a third party app to record sleep.

    1. Hi, The Watch has some functions that track sleep that need to be activated in future releases that our study app will use. A third party app can be used for the time being.

  4. With this apps limited ability to edit the morning & evening journals I fine myself glossing over writing anything more than a few comments. This editing problem should have been fixed long ago
